Building a stronger, more connected Muslim community in Guernsey.

A welcoming, community‑led space for learning, service, and shared purpose.

GMI is a community‑led initiative focused on enriching Muslim life in Guernsey through practical activities, learning opportunities, and positive community engagement.
We’re starting small and growing naturally. Everyone is welcome — men, women, youth, families, newcomers, and long‑standing residents.
This is not a replacement for any existing organisation.
It’s simply a way to bring people together, support one another, and build something meaningful for the future.

ACTIVITIES & GATHERINGS

We’re planning small, meaningful activities that help us learn, connect, and support one another. These gatherings are open to everyone and grow naturally as more people get involved.

Men’s Online Qur’aan Recitation Classes
Join our online men’s Qur’aan recitation circle. Build confidence, refresh your tajweed, and stay consistent with short, focused sessions.
Weekly Halaqah / Study Circle
A relaxed space to learn, reflect, and strengthen our understanding of Islam together.
Women’s Discussion Circle
A welcoming, supportive space for women to connect, learn, and lead.
Ramadan Preparation Session
Workshops and discussions to help families and individuals prepare for Ramadan.
More initiatives will be added as the community grows and contributes.

About GMI

We’re starting small and growing naturally. Everyone is welcome — men, women, youth, families, newcomers, and long‑standing residents.
This is not a replacement for any existing organisation.
It’s simply a way to bring people together, support one another, and build something meaningful for the future.

  • more opportunities to learn and grow spiritually

  • more support and guidance for youth

  • more involvement and leadership opportunities for women

  • more community connection and unity

  • more structured activities for families

  • more long‑term planning for our future

WHY THIS MATTERS

Guernsey’s Muslim community is diverse, growing, and full of potential. Many of us want:

GMI aims to meet these needs through consistent, positive, community‑driven action.

Our approach

We believe real change comes from consistent, meaningful action.

GMI is built on:
Shura — shared consultation
Transparency — open communication
Service — doing good for the community
Unity — bringing people together
Inclusivity — everyone has a place
Gradual growth — building slowly and intentionally

LOOKING AHEAD

Everything will be shaped by the community, for the community.

As GMI grows, we hope to develop:

  • structured Islamic education

  • youth leadership programmes

  • women‑led initiatives

  • community support networks

  • long‑term planning for facilities

  • partnerships with local organisations

  • establish Guernsey's first halal database

  • purchase Muslim graves for the inevitable

  • Revive the sunnah of local moon sighting

HOW WE SHARE UPDATES

We keep things simple and personal.
We avoid large public groups or broadcasts.
Everything grows at a pace the community is comfortable with.
Updates are shared through:

  • this website

  • private messages to those who reach out

  • word of mouth within the community
